This is how to set the focus point on your camera. When you purchased your camera, it came automatically set with multi-point focus mode. This means the camera will choose a point to focus on in the frame which may or may not be right for the composition you have chosen. I recommend you change your camera settings to single point focus so you can take control over the focus point.
Once your camera is in single point focus, you can move the point using the thumbwheel on the back of your camera.
Another method is to use the halfway press and hold method. This involves moving the camera until the focus point is over the area of the frame you want to be in sharp focus. You then push the shutter release halfway down and hold it, and then recompose the photo and take the shot. You can see this method being used in the video above.
If you want more instruction on taking sharp and in focus photos, then you need to check out the Photography Transformation Four-Step System Masterclass. Tips like these ones on single-point autofocus are really important to developing as a photographer, but there is always so much more to learn.
This is where I explain in detail the four pillars of taking great photos. And they are: Find it, frame it, take it, retouch it. There is much more to each of these pillars, but they are all explained in detail in the masterclass.
I have a free web class that explains the entire four-step system to taking incredible photos. Click this link and you will start watching it right away:
